Wheel Spoke Weight

Sold individually. If you need two please enter quantity as 2. The wheel spoke weights are used to balance the wheels. Most off road motorcycle wheels come fitted with rim locks. At low speeds, especially off road, while riding in rough terrain, you probably won’t notice much. But at higher speeds, on smoother surfaces, you’ll notice that the front wheel will start to vibrate and hop in severe cases. The Tubliss system is becoming popular for off road riding and this system also requires balancing if a smooth ride at higher speeds is desired.

The wheel spoke weights will fit wheels with spokes up to 4mm diameter (spoke nipple diameter up to 8mm).

Two versions are available:

WSW.RMLC- Two are required to balance a KTM OEM front wheel rim lock. To balance rear rim lock wheels use two WSW.TBLS

WSW.TBLS- Two are required to balance a front wheel fitted with Tubliss. Can also be used to balance Tubliss and tubed rim lock rear wheels (two required).

Description

Sold individually. If you need two please enter quantity as 2. Can be used on wheels with spoke diameters up to 4mm and spoke nipple diameter up to 8mm, including OEM KTM EXC, SX, XC, XC-W wheels. Aftermarket wheels may have larger spokes so please measure before ordering. E.g. Tusk Impact wheel spoke nipple diameter is 8.4mm. Please add note to order if non-standard size bore in spoke weights is required.

Each WSW.RMLC spoke weight weighs approximately 45g. To balance a front wheel fitted with a KTM OEM rim lock, two WSW.RMLC will be required. Note: To balance a rear wheel fitted with a KTM OEM rear rim lock two WSW.TBLS are recommended.

Each WSW.TBLS spoke weight weighs approximately 66g. To balance a front wheel fitted with Tubliss, two WSW.TBLS will be required. Can also be used to balance Tubliss and tubed rim lock rear wheels (two required).

For off-road use with knobby tires precise balancing probably isn’t necessary and rear wheel balancing usually isn’t necessary. However, for high speed road use, both front and rear wheels should be balanced and a static wheel balancer jig can be used to achieve a more precise balance by adjusting the position of the weights. Small stick-on weights could also be used to fine tune the balance.

The spoke weights are made from brass with stainless steel M4 set screws. When freshly machined in the lathe the spoke weights are a bright gold color. Brass is corrosion resistant, but will change over time to a dull gold/brown color. No special maintenance is required.  When fitting it’s recommended to apply a small amount of Loctite 243 to the set screw to ensure it doesn’t loosen during operation. A 2mm hex wrench is required to tighten the set screw. Please be careful not to over torque the set screw.
